| The Master’s Helping Hands is a mission service group that reaches out to the surrounding community and Lutheran Church of the Master (LCOM) congregation. Target populations are currently the homeless individuals residing in the Sunnyslope area, senior citizens, and LCOM members.
The group volunteers the first Sunday of each odd month at St. Vincent De Paul’s Sunnyslope Dining Hall where approximately100 people are served meals two times daily. The group when volunteering to serve provides the dessert. This service project is open to all members of the congregation, and donating dessert items is also opened up to the congregation. The group has also held drives for the City of Phoenix Sunnyslope Family Services Center for their summer and winter respite programs to aid the homeless in the area.
Service projects within the church have included a thorough cleaning and polishing of the pews, organizing the Easter Breakfast and Advent dinners, and organizing and providing flyers to distribute to the community with invitations to our Lenten, Easter, Advent, and Christmas services.
The group has adopted the following mission statement that reflects its purpose and goals:
“To serve God’s church and community with love and compassion by addressing the spiritual and physical needs of its members.”
Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All congregation members are welcome to attend. New ideas are always welcome!
