6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall
Bring your favorite dish to share at our Choir and Bellchoir Kickoff Potluck on Wednesday, September 6, 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. This is an evening of fun, food, and friendship for all returning choir and bell choir members AND for those who want to explore singing and/or ringing at Lutheran Church of the Master for the first time.
Dr. Hernandez will talk about the schedule for the 2009-2010 season and answer any questions that you may have about our music ministry. Singing together and playing bells is a fun, community-building, and healthy activity. Throughout the year we explore a wide variety of musical styles, from Renaissance motets to contemporary anthems. Consider singing and/or bell ringing as you plan your fall activities. I look forward to seeing you all at the potluck as we kick off another exciting year of music-making at Lutheran Church of the Master.
MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES
Got a voice? Play an instrument? Want to learn handbells? …We Want You!
The Church of the Master Choir is for individuals of high school age through adult. Their repertoire includes a broad spectrum of traditional choral literature as well as contemporary anthems and service music. The choir's focus is to lead musically in Sunday worship twice a month. Brush-up rehearsals are held at 8:15am the Sundays the choir sings. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm beginning September 16, 2009.
The Church of the Master Ringers is the intergenerational handbell choir open to anyone in 5th Grade or older. Kids and adults who are interested in learning more about bells will be given basic music instruction (no previous experience is necessary), learn proper ringing techniques, and prepare simple pieces for worship. The handbell choir will play for Sunday worship every two to three months on an arranged basis. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm beginning September 16, 2009.
Occasionally during worship, additional vocalists and instrumentalists are used to enhance the worship experience, either in a solo or ensemble arrangement. We need a list of those who might be interested in playing for a service. Please call or email Heather if you would like to be a soloist or part of an ensemble. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed at 8:15am on Sunday mornings or on Wednesday evenings.
